Two months at Worthpick: discovering a 'weapon' I didn't know I had
The very day Worthpick got started in earnest

A time for discovering a 'weapon' I didn't know I had

Worthpick is a marketer community I started participating in at the end of August, and as of October I've wrapped up that two-month journey.

I joined as an assistant manager from the community's early days, commenting on the valuable posts other members shared and sharing my own lessons learned. Maybe because I threw myself into it, I could feel real growth over those two months.

The weapon challenge: sharpening my sense of taste

Let me start with the weapon challenge, one of the core activities of the Worthpick community.

Personally it was a meaningful time because it gave me a chance to make my 'persona as a marketer' more solid. It also became a turning point for learning about tastes and a style I didn't know I had.

Do I even have taste?

Before Worthpick, compared to other marketers, I was someone who almost never felt particularly drawn to any brand or product. I had pretty dull taste.

Through the process of organizing and recording my thoughts on more than 30 keywords and then rereading them, I came to understand what kind of things I like.

And on the final day, with the 31st keyword, I found the single word that captures my image: caramel.

I'm planning to tear down and rebuild this blog soon around the concept I've found. 😀

A wonderful gift I received ahead of wrapping up at Worthpick! Thank you once again. :)

Books X weapons: the person who will be my 'ONE thing' and the 'story' I want to build

The offline session I liked most, the Books X Weapons class, helped me clarify the goal I want to achieve going forward.

From Pixar Storytelling, I found the story I want to tell the person I'll come to love,
and from The ONE Thing, the one thing I need to focus on to meet that person.

I came away expecting that within two years I'll become an expert in the B2B marketing field, and that somewhere in that process of change, a wonderful person who can grow with me for life will appear.

Going on about love out of nowhere in a marketing community, haha. It's a little embarrassing, but I recently realized that when I think about someone I love, I'm the type who pours in an enormous amount of effort and passion.

I think that's also the reason I work hard to earn money, and the reason I want to achieve excellence in my career.

For the person I haven't met yet but will someday,
I've decided to start running hard again while I wait.

*Writing this reminded me of one of my favorite movies, Free Guy. :)
The idea that an entire world can be a love letter to someone is striking!

To find 'the one' who's out there somewhere, I'll have to run hard.

Worthpick Salon: a time for finding the weapons I can use

The Worthpick Salon, which covers a different topic every time, will stay with me too.

At the first gathering in September, we spent time finding the various keywords that define who I am and sharing them with others.

The three weapon keywords I found and organized
1. The weapon that keeps me going: hope
2. The weapon that represents me now: motivation
3. My weapon for the future: execution

While I was talking about the first keyword, 'hope,' I thought of the opening scene of Yumi's Cells (a hugely popular Korean webtoon), which made me who I am today.

Like the story of Kim Yumi, a bookkeeper at a noodle company who grows into a wonderful writer, I too handled all kinds of odd jobs at my first company before I was able to break out with a vision of becoming a marketer.

The opening scene of <Yumi's Cells>, which was exactly who I used to be.

And at the Frugal Marketing Salon in October, I learned that as a way to cut budgets, you can save money cleverly by 'exchanging the surplus resources that you, other people, or companies already have.'

Going forward I'll need to pay close attention to what each of us is good at, and what kinds of value can be shared without causing problems.

Graduation: a declaration of intent to truly become a 'caramel' kind of person

Even so, I imagine some people will be surprised to hear that I, the assistant manager, am suddenly leaving the community, haha.

I'll leave a note in the group chat too, but the truth is that from the moment I decided to join, I set myself a time limit of two months.

Ironically, this conviction only got firmer in The ONE Thing class.
I became certain that the single most important thing for me right now is to pour all my effort into becoming a 'B2B marketing expert.'

Choin, who runs the community, respected my thinking, and because I participated in the weapon classes more enthusiastically than anyone, I get to leave having found my own weapons.

It would have been disappointing to reach the end of the adventure with no treasure... so I'm truly relieved 😁

To everyone currently taking part in Worthpick, and to everyone who will join in the future, I sincerely hope it becomes a time for finding your own weapons!

Goodbye Worthpick! See you again on another good occasion :)
